Key Changes
Faceless Assessment & Risk Management
Faceless assessment separates assessment from the port of import. It is supported by risk‑based selection and RMS. This increases reliance on clean data and accurate classification/valuation rather than local relationships.
eSANCHIT & ICEGATE
Most supporting documents must be uploaded electronically via ICEGATE (eSANCHIT). Tokens/IRNs are referenced in the Bill of Entry—missing or incorrect mapping triggers queries.
PGA Digital Integrations
Regulators such as FSSAI, PQ, AQCS, BIS, WPC, etc., are increasingly integrated. Where available, approvals and NOCs flow digitally; manual submissions are phased out.
Track & Trace
Digital status, query trails, and e‑payments shorten cycles but surface data defects quickly. A single bad master (HS/UQC/description) causes systemic delays.
What Importers Should Do
- Maintain a controlled HS/notification master with valuation notes and associated licenses.
- Adopt a document naming/versioning convention for faster eSANCHIT mapping.
- Enable pre‑arrival filing and duty readiness to exploit the time gains from automation.
- Train teams on digital workflows and evidence trails (queries, replies, approvals).
- Consider AEO and standardized SOPs to lower risk and expedite clearances.
